Column chart

A column chart can display values for two iterations:

  • Two dimensions (X axis and partition) and one measure (Y axis)

  • One dimension (X axis) and multiple measures (Y axis)

If two dimensions or multiple measures are used, they can be displayed as stacked bars of different colors.

Setup options

Data assignment

You can assign a text or date column to the X axis and Y axis and a number column as a measure.

The following setup options are available.

Setup options

Description

Data source

Displays the columns of the assigned data source. Click Select, if no data source is assigned. Click Edit to open the data source settings in the data feed editor. Click the Delete Delete icon to remove the assigned data source.

X axis

Displays the dimension assigned to the X axis. In a column chart, the X axis is the horizontal axis. Click + Add dimension and select a dimension.

Y axis

Displays the measure assigned to the Y axis. In a column chart, the Y axis is the vertical axis.

Click + Add measure and select a measure. Depending on the assigned data source, you can select more than one measure. AVG (average) is preset as default aggregation method. Click the More icon and select an aggregation.

Click the Configure average icon to specify the total aggregation.

  • Enable Show to display the total aggregation value as a line.

  • Enable Show numerical value to display the total aggregation as a numerical value.

Specify an alternative label or color for the total aggregation value.

2. Y axis

Displays the measure assigned to the second Y axis. Depending on the assigned data source, you can add more than two Y axes to the widget. Click + Add measure and select a measure.

Partition

Allows you to split the criteria displayed on the X axis by adding an additional dimension. Click + Add dimension and select a dimension.

Hidden columns

Displays the list of hidden columns added to the widget. They are not displayed in the widget but can be used, for example, for filtering the widget. Click + Add dimension or measure to add a hidden column. For numerical measures, AVG (average) is preset as default aggregation method. Click the More icon to select an aggregation method.

Multiple selection

Enables multiple selection for the widget.

In view mode, the user can select multiple values at the same time in the corresponding widget, for example, multiple rows in a table or multiple coordinates in a chart. The multiple selection can be used, for example, to filter other dashboard widgets. See Use interactive filters in dashboards for details. The values selected are processed as a list. If the option is enabled, columns of List type are provided in the filter configuration dialog to configure filter conditions. See Define filters for dashboard widgets for details.
